Dear Lincoln Options Families,
Harvest Festival is September 30th, from 9:00-11:45.
Each fall the Lincoln community celebrates the harvest of our own garden and the bounty of the season. All students gather for an assembly and are then released to participate in outdoor activities and crafts such as cider pressing, hay jumping, pumpkin ring toss, sack races, face painting, and ivy crowns.
All families are welcome, but we request that alumni siblings do not attend. The activities are oriented for younger children and we do not have a system in place to coordinate alumni volunteers. Also, this is a school day for them and throughout the district we are emphasizing consistent attendance. Younger siblings are welcome.
A major highlight of this event is the community meal, made by students with the help of many adult volunteers, using ingredients straight from the Lincoln garden! Kids eat with their families. Serving everyone can be tricky, so be patient with long lines or beat the lines by eating as soon as the kitchen opens.
Harvest Festival Schedule
From 9:00 – 11:45
8:30 Regular Arrival Time, Visitor Sign-In
9:00 Opening Ceremony Assembly in Gym

If your child is leaving before 2:45 you must sign them out in the office
All visitors and volunteers must sign in and put on a name badge before joining the celebration. If you will be attending as a volunteer (activities, food server, etc.) you must have attained your district volunteer clearance and shown verification of vaccine status prior to Friday, 30th.
September 30th is also “Orange Shirt Day” or the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day was initiated in Canada as a day to acknowledge and reconcile the negative impacts that the Indian Residential school system had, and continues to have, on Indigenous communities. Wearing an orange shirt on the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation was inspired by a story told by Phyllis Jack Webstad about her experience of having all of her personal clothing removed from her, including a new orange shirt, on her first day of school. The motto of the day is “Every Child Matters”, including children that are now adults or have gone before us. We invite you to wear an orange shirt to Harvest Festival to commemorate the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and to honor the people who are or were victims of the Indian Residential school system. You can learn more at https://beyond.ubc.ca/orange-shirt-day/ and https://www.orangeshirtday.org/
Harvest Festival- how you can help:
May 15 – online silent auction opens.
May 21 – online live auction begins at 7 p.m.
Hi Everyone!
It is that time of the year when we begin to prepare our most important fundraising event. To provide the unique education that Lincoln Options offers, we must raise $65,000 per year more than the funding we receive from the Olympia School District. That amounts to an average of $215 per student. In the past, the auction’s proceeds have accounted for 50% of that funding. The Auction Committee thought long and hard about whether we should hold this auction in person or online, and we reached the conclusion that because of the Covid-Omicron variant, we will hold our auction online (hopefully for the last time) once again.
The auction will have a silent portion that will begin on May 15, and a live online portion that will be held on Saturday, May 21 at 7 p.m.
The Auction Committee needs three specific things at this time that you may be able to help with. Those three things are:
The Auction Committee realizes that some people may be disappointed that we are not having a live auction, but based on the facts before us in January, the Auction Committee decided to do the auction online again for two reasons.
First, when planning for this auction began we were just getting into the Omicron wave of the current pandemic and we believed it would not be a good idea to organize a large, live event. Second, based on our personal experiences doing multiple live auctions at Lincoln, such an auction requires an Auction Committee of about ten people and a larger team of about ten more people not including procurement volunteers.
This year the auction’s workload is being carried by only six people. Hopefully, next year as our lives continue to return to normal, enough people will be interested in volunteering so that we can organize a live auction. We really hope this year’s auction is as successful as past auctions, and we look forward to your support both through the silent and live phases of the auction.

Please spread the word about Lincoln to those with school age children in the community, especially if you know of any families whose children will be entering kindergarten this fall.
Enrollment Information Nights
Thursday, March 3, 6 – 8 p.m. via Zoom
Wednesday, March 9, 6 – 8 p.m. via Zoom
We ask that families attend one of these meetings to help them make an informed decision about whether the Options Program is the right fit for their needs. Additionally, at the meeting, families will learn about the lottery process, and have an opportunity to meet the staff and ask questions.
Please email Aly Long at lincolnenrollment@gmail.com or check the OSD website in February for more information regarding how to sign up for Lincoln’s Enrollment Information Night meetings. https://osd.wednet.edu
Students living in the Lincoln Service Area and siblings of currently enrolled students, who are entering at kindergarten level are not required to participate in the lottery, but can register directly through the school office.
Additionally, the Olympia School District is hosting an informational event for families who will have children in kindergarten in the 2022 – 2023 school year. This event is called ‘Countdown to Kindergarten’. Please check the OSD website in mid February for more information regarding the date for ‘Countdown to Kindergarten.’ https://osd.wednet.edu
Observation Week
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 we are unable to host Observation Week this year. Please plan to attend one of our virtual Enrollment Information Nights.
Volunteers Needed!
We need your help! Call for volunteers to distribute fliers to locations around Olympia. If you are able to distribute fliers about enrollment nights to local preschools, day cares, restaurants or businesses with bulletin boards, please sign up through this link below. If you know of any new locations to post fliers, please include them in the document.
